A Message From the Founder
Hi I'm Chris Lake the Founder & President of GOFOPRO a new re-entry and recovery program that is dedicated to the successful re-entry of former incarcerated individuals in Texas. I wanted to take this time to talk with you about the overcrowding of our Texas prisons and city jails across our great state. Texas is currently number 1 in new incarceration rates. This has created a substantial increase of newly incarcerated inmates. Amongst a high number of repeat offenders this has cause an overflow of inmates in our city jails and state prison. Although recidivism rates for the TDCJ inmate population continue to be among the lowest in the country, this rate does not include the millions of new offenders who are processed in local jails each year, many of whom will transition to TDCJ supervision.
As of July 2022, a combined total of approximately 403,387 individuals were on probation, parole, or in prison; 204,426 on direct misdemeanor or felony probation; 121,102 incarcerated in TDCJ facilities; 77,859 parole supervision. Sadly many of these individuals do not complete their programs and they return to jail adding to the overcrowding of our city jails where they are held until space is available in one of our states prisons. This is why effective re-entry programs are needed to keep repeat offenders out of prison and the recently released from returning.
As a former inmate myself I understand the challenges that these individuals are facing once released from jail or prison. Homelessness, addiction, a lack of community support, unfair employment opportunities, and many other factors all play a part in the current ineffective re-entry system. It is with those challenges in mind that GOFOPRO has centered its overall goal and mission which is to develop and implement re-entry services and initiatives that will provide significant momentum toward a seamless system where all components work in tandem to achieve the goal of reducing recidivism.

Along with myself and the GOFOPRO team we would like to thank you for taking to the time to visit our website and learn more about one of the many issues that our criminal justice system is facing. By building community support we hope to reestablish that the trust that these individuals have broken within the community by creating PROFESSIONAL(S) who are ready to be productive citizens in our great nation and leaders of change and reform in our communities.
